Elon Musk: AI App “Baby Grok” for Children to Be Released

Elon Musk has announced that his AI startup, xAI, will soon launch a new application called Baby Grok, aimed at providing child-specific content. He did not offer further details about the app’s features or its exact release date.

Musk made the announcement on X, stating that xAI intends to release a kid-friendly version of Grok. The company had recently unveiled its powerful model Grok 4, and the quick introduction of a child-specific version highlights the rapid pace of technological development at xAI.

The Grok chatbot has recently stirred up significant controversy. It faced widespread criticism for controversial outputs, including antisemitic content. These incidents appear to have prompted xAI to work on safer, more suitable versions for specific groups—such as children.

Last week, Elon Musk also revealed that a new feature called “Companions” has been added to Grok’s voice mode. One of its characters, Ani, is marked NSFW (Not Safe For Work), making it even less appropriate for younger users. However, Grok’s voice mode does include a child-specific mode, allowing younger users to interact with it. Additionally, the character Good Rudi, portrayed as a cartoon bear or fox, is designed to be a friendly and engaging personality for kids.

Musk, a former co-founder of OpenAI who left the company in 2018, has developed Grok as a competitor to other chatbots such as Claude, Gemini, and ChatGPT. From the beginning, Grok’s unique feature has been its humorous tone, which has helped users on X engage more comfortably with it.
