Anthropic has significantly expanded the capabilities of its AI chatbot Claude through a major update, enabling integration with the design platform Canva. This new integration allows users to directly create, edit, review, and even publish designs within the AI chat interface using Canva.
The feature is powered through a dedicated Canva MCP server and requires a paid Claude subscription. Access to these tools also varies depending on the type of Canva subscription.
Expanding Claude’s Capabilities with Canva Integration
According to reports, this update is part of Anthropic’s new approach to developing AI agents that can directly interact with external tools. Claude can now connect to a wide range of web-based applications and services, including Stripe, Figma, Prisma, Canva, Asana, and other platforms.
The main goal of this integration is to reduce the need for manually transferring information between Claude and users’ work tools—transforming Claude from a simple assistant into an intelligent, independent AI collaborator.
A newly released connector list by Anthropic provides Claude with access to user data on websites and desktop plugins through these gateways.
For example, users can ask Claude to retrieve company revenue data from Stripe and prepare a quarterly report, or to extract project updates from Apple Notes and sync them to Asana. Graphic designers can also generate designs in Canva with a simple command.
Anwar Hanif, Head of Ecosystem at Canva, commented on the partnership:
“Claude now serves as a vital creative collaborator for millions of users. With this integration, the full suite of Canva’s design capabilities is now seamlessly available to Claude users.”
The list of connectors is now available to all Claude users on both web and desktop versions. By clicking the “Connect” option, users can grant Claude the necessary access. These features come at a time when the AI market is witnessing growing competition to expand the use of intelligent agents across third-party tools and applications.
