A Revolution in Coding: 2 Tools That Cut Development Time from Days to Hours

What’s happening behind the scenes when coding time drops from several days to just a few hours?

Aravind Srinivas, CEO of Perplexity, announced that using AI coding tools like GitHub Copilot and Cursor has become mandatory in his company. He says these tools have dramatically increased engineers’ productivity.

According to Srinivas, AI tools have reduced the time needed for prototyping and testing from three or four days to less than an hour. Even non-technical staff can now make changes to user interfaces with their help—by simply uploading a screenshot and a description, the tools can generate the appropriate code.

As Business Insider points out, AI technology in development and coding is not flawless. Sometimes these tools introduce new bugs that users don’t know how to fix. Nevertheless, the high speed of code revision and deployment remains a significant advantage.

The use of AI tools in the tech industry is rapidly expanding. Companies like Visa, Reddit, and DoorDash now list familiarity with tools such as Cursor and Bolt as a requirement in their job postings.

According to a survey of 645 engineers, 90% of development teams now use AI, compared to 61% last year. However, some tech leaders have warned that for certain experienced developers, relying on these tools might actually reduce efficiency.
