Elon Musk’s startup xAI has unveiled a suite of artificial intelligence capabilities designed for use by government entities.
The new service, Grok for Government, includes a combination of xAI’s latest commercial products, such as the Grok 4 model and the Deep Search feature. These tools have been tailored to meet the needs of federal, state, and local government agencies.
xAI stated that it will develop custom models for select clients in the fields of national security and research. Specialized AI applications are also being planned for sectors such as healthcare, fundamental sciences, and defense, with models designed for use in confidential and restricted environments.
Recently, Donald Trump threatened to cut off Elon Musk’s companies from receiving federal subsidies amid public tensions between the two. Nevertheless, xAI confirmed that it currently holds a contract with the U.S. Department of Defense.
xAI’s services are now available through the General Services Administration (GSA) procurement platform, meaning all U.S. government entities and agencies can access xAI’s models.
