ChatGPT Users Send Over 2.5 Billion Prompts Daily

According to new data, users of the ChatGPT chatbot send more than 2.5 billion prompts or commands to the service every day.

As reported by Axios, out of the more than 2.5 billion daily prompts received by ChatGPT, over 330 million are sent by users based in the United States. The data suggests that ChatGPT users send more than 912.5 billion prompts to the AI chatbot annually.

ChatGPT Receives Over 912 Billion Prompts Each Year
Rob Friedlander, a spokesperson for OpenAI, confirmed to The Verge that the figures reported by Axios are accurate.

Although ChatGPT still has a long way to go before reaching Google’s annual record of 5 trillion searches, its rapid growth continues to pose a significant threat to the search giant. In just a few months, ChatGPT’s weekly users have grown from 300 million in December to over 500 million in March.

Earlier this month, Reuters reported that OpenAI is preparing to launch an AI-powered web browser that will directly compete with Google Chrome. While OpenAI’s browser has not yet been released to the market, the company took a step toward this goal last week by introducing ChatGPT Agent— a tool capable of performing many tasks on behalf of users.

Many companies active in the AI field have set their sights on competing with Google in the search market. For instance, the AI startup Perplexity recently unveiled its own AI-powered browser called Comet. This browser uses the Perplexity chatbot as its default search engine and comes with an AI assistant that can automate a wide range of tasks for users.

OpenAI is also expected to release its dedicated web browser in the near future. If that happens, Google may be forced to integrate even more AI features into Chrome.
